10 Ways to Increase Ecommerce Sales through Pinterest

As a business owner, you’ll have a million and one things on your mind at any time. And when it comes to social media, you need to post and engage with customers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, your personal blog whilst maintaining your online store. Phew! That’s a lot to do.

It may seem daunting (or annoying) to sign up to another social networking site. But trust us. If you are selling a product – Pinterest is the one for you.

Here are 10 Ways to Increase Ecommerce Sales through Pinterest:

1. Show what’s going on

Humans are nosy parkers; we like to know how something is made or where it came from. Whether your business is based in your kitchen, or you have 100 employees working in a warehouse, people want to see inside your business and what makes you tick.

2. Reuse and recycle

Create a board detailing your company’s history. You’ll probably have videos and photos from when you first started up or from your blog. Get these on Pinterest to show how much the company has grown since you started.

3. Socialise

Use existing social media accounts to drive activity on your Pinterest board. Find people to follow using your mailing list and link your social media networks. Ask fans for pictures of themselves using or enjoying your products to give your boards more variety, whilst also promoting your brand. Let fans know you’ll pin their pictures if they send them in.

4. Use themed boards

If you’ve completed #3, your fans will know where to find you. Encourage followers to post pictures relating to your themed boards to create new interest. If you are selling jewelry, create boards for necklaces, bracelets or earrings. If you sell home décor products, get followers to post pictures of the room they used your product in.

5. It’s Not All About You

Engagement on Pinterest isn’t as easy to follow as on Facebook or Twitter. Watch which pins and boards your followers get excited about by keeping an eye on comments and repins. You’ll soon find out what works, and what doesn’t.

8. Making shopping easy

Add a link to your ecommerce shop in the pin description to make buying your product just one-click away. Many stores forget to list a link, which is frustrating for consumers and may mean you lose sales.

9. Let the fans choose

Don’t try to forcefully sell your products. Show your followers what you have to offer and they will choose for themselves. Don’t forget to post your prices with your pins – again, this makes it easier for people to purchase products there and then.

10. Collaborate

Team up with other shops on Pinterest. Find like-minded businesses with the same target market as you – but obviously not the same product. Allow them to be showcased on your boards in return for a space on theirs.
